My favorite Cinnamon Buns - the danish way

These cinnamon buns are my favorite thing to make, from the first time I made them with my late grandmother and later when I got the recipe of her and started making them on my own. And when your done making them you get the pleasure of serving them to your loved ones and enjoying them yourself !!
They are pretty straight forward to make and don´t take long (not counting the rising time), and always come out soft and delicious :D here is the recipe.

It´s up to you how much butter and cinnamon sugar you use on the buns but I have to say that skimping out is not necessarily the best thing in this department :)

Once the dough has risen knead the dough a little bit

Split it in half, and put one half away for now, unless you have a huge worktop then you can skip this:)

Roll the half out until it´s relatively thin, you don´t want it to be thick because you want as many layers of cinnamon in one bun as possible.  Using a pastry brush you brush the oil or melted butter on the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on top.

Roll up the dough from the direction of the longest side of the dough (does that make sense?)

Cut up the roll as desired, just remember to push them down a little bit when you put them on the rack.

When the buns have risen, lightly brush them with oil or butter just before you put them into the oven. Then bake until they are golden brown :)...... and YUMMIE !!

Enjoy!!

They are delicious with ice cold milk, and I usually freeze half of them and just pop them frosen in the oven and they are equally as delicious then ... Enjoy

And on a side note I have to show you these little darlings :D

Hope you have a good week :)

Such a dear recipe that you got to make them with your grandmother...how nice! My mom was not a cook and my grandmother was not around that much (and never cooked when she was) so I have had to learn everything on my own. Oh well...it all works out! These look delicious...I think I will try them with some spelt flour I have in the cupboard.
